NATIONAL YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS (NYC)

The Touch Football Australia National Youth Championships was held in Kawana on the Sunshine Coast from Wednesday 27th September to Saturday 30th September 2023.

South Queensland Sharks sent Junior Representative teams in the following divisions: 

• Competitive: 12 Girls, 12 Boys, 14 Girls, 14 Boys, 16 Girls, 16 Boys, 18 Girls & 18 Boys. 

• Development: 12 Girls, 12 Boys, 14 Girls, 14 Boys.

South Queensland Sharks are proud to say we finished as the Champion Entity, winning the following divisions: 16 Boys, 16 Girls, 14 Girls, 12 Girls.  Congratulations to all involved!

To be eligible to trial for South Queensland Sharks players must be financial members of SQBD, must be a registered player of a SQBD Affiliate during Season 2, 2022 and/or Season 1, 2023, and must be selected from either the Dispensation List or identified through participation in the Titans Tri-Series. 

​

All rounds of the Titans Tri-Series are considered Talent Identification opportunities for the 2023 SQ Sharks Coaching Staff to select their trial squads.  These squads will be named on the SQBD website and SQ Sharks Facebook Page by 5pm Sunday 18 June 2023.  These trial squads will form the basis for players trialling for Final Squads at the SQ Sharks Selection Day on Sunday 16 July at Palm Beach Touch, running from 8am-1pm.

All players must compete in the 2023 Titans Tri-Series or have completed the SQBD Dispensation Form outlining the extenuating circumstances that are preventing the player from competing e.g. medical or family emergency. Links to these forms can be found on the NYC Documents & Policies Page.

The final trial will be held on Sunday 16th July 2023 at Palm Beach Touch. Trial information regarding times and divisions is below (subject to change):

8am-11am: 12 Boys and 12 Girls

10am-1pm: 14 Boys and 14 Girls

8am-11am: 16 Boys and 16 Girls

10am-1pm: 18 Boys and 18 Girls
